Shared Community Benefit
Parron Developments recognises community concerns about the growing pipeline of wind energy projects in the Wheatbelt and acknowledge the impact of major construction projects in terms of community disruption, impact to infrastructure, and unequal distribution of benefits. This impact reaches beyond the PWF site and can impact the broader Wheatbelt and Mid-West regions, as equipment is moved, and the project is constructed.
Acknowledging community concern and the capacity for wind farms to have broader social impacts, Parron Developments has invested early in the development of a Community Benefit Framework for the PWF. The framework is informed by a baseline review of demographic and strategic policy and ongoing stakeholder engagement, as well as direct input from the community.
If approved, PWF has committed to the establishment of a Community Benefit Fund with funding of $1,000 per MW over the life of the project. The Fund will establish appropriate governance including representatives from local government, traditional owners, community and developers.
Community benefit also includes the jobs created as part of the project, focussing on local procurement, through to established funds that support local infrastructure, as well as partnerships.
